You made this for me?
A sweet friend of ours, Jessi, has been busy making blankets in honor of Garby's upcoming arrival. She finished Garby's blanket (a zebra striped one to match the wild animal theme) about a month ago and it is hanging over the crib waiting for her. Jessi also made one for big brother Abe, and she just finished it and gave it to him on Saturday. I wanted to share, because the sweetness of Abe in this was just a poignant reminder to me of what a special heart our little guy has. When Jessi first came, she gave me the blanket and I called Abe over. I said to him, "Look at this blanket that Jessi made! Do you know who this is for?" Abe answered, "Garby?" (Actually, he said what her name will be, but since that isn't public knowledge to all yet...) "No sweetie. Not this one. This one is for YOU! This is for big brother Abram." So I snapped a couple of pictures and while I was busy, Jessi told me that Abe put his head on the blanket, looked at her, and said, "You made this for ME!" It is, of course, now on his big boy bed, and every time he sees it he says, "Mommy, Jessi MADE this for ME!" Time and time again I'm reminded just how special God made our little guy.
Dentist
On Friday Abe had his first dentist appointment, and once again we beamed with pride at how well he did. First he watched Mommy get her teeth clean, and then he very nicely and calmly sat and let Deanna clean his teeth. She found only one tiny spot of tartar/plaque, which she cleared away, and then she "tickled" his teeth with the rotary brush. Abe didn't mind it one bit. Of course, the dinosaur tooth brush and leopard from the treasure chest were a big hit. Not surprisingly, he wooed all the women in the office without even trying. And since this was a new dentist for Mommy as well, I was quite pleased that both of us got glowing reports from the doctor.
